We were so excited to find this wonderful little homestead north of Beach. For years we had talked about living in the country and growing our own food. We always had a garden but it was limited in space. Although we were grateful, it didn’t match the dream we had of the country garden with farm animals.
In 2010 the door opened for us to be at this wonderful homestead. We are so greatly blessed! Yes, we dreamed about living in the country with the garden and animals but we never imagined that we would find a place that would so perfectly fit our dreams.
Every year, with the exception of one, the gardens have been expanded. This year of course was the biggest expansion in preparation for the CSA and more expansions are to come. There is so much satisfaction to be outside working in the garden or taking care of the animals.
Every spring is filled with excitement as we await the arrival of the calves, lambs, chicks, and baby goats. No matter how many we see, the excitement doesn’t fade. This is our first sign of spring.
After all the new babies it is about time to start preparing the gardens. Anyone who has ever gardened knows that this is what you wait for all winter. All the planning, all the hope of a perfect season, the excitement of some new variety you have found, it is all on the cusp of fruition.
We want to share this with you, with your children. The natural world is full of beauty and miracles, laughs and excitement.
