Rolling Hills Farm Fall Season CSA- 10 weeks of organically grown heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Today I delivered the last basket of our Fall season. I'm so grateful for the mild weather we had this fall. It sure made it much easier on us! Our Fall season lasted ten weeks. I thought I would share with everyone a little recap of all the baskets. Here goes!
Glyphosate, GMOs and Why you Should Eat Organic
I found this article on Yahoo today. Glyphosate, the most highly used herbicide (it's actually an insecticide as well) in the world has somehow been able to skip EPA regulations that other pesticides and herbicides have to pass. Consumer food products are routinely tested for residue of pesticides and herbicides. This includes all types of food not just produce. But for all the years glyphosate has been in use, foods have never been tested for glyphosate residue until now. Hmmmmm. Monsanto makes $5 billion a year from the sales of glyphosate and glyphosate products. Of course they don't want food to be tested for this known carcinogen because it is so heavily used that it's in everything! They have gone so far to protect their profit from this poison that they now have there former lawyer, Micheal Taylor, working in the FDA. and not just any spot in the FDA, he is the Food safety Czar, the Deputy Commissioner for Foods. But don't worry folks there is no conflict of interest here?
So long, so long. It has been so long since we did an update on the greenhouse. I wanted to. I thought of it many times, but there were all those bushels of tomatoes, oh and the tomatillos, peppers, eggplant...... So I canned and processed and preserved because they weren't going to wait for me to do a blog post. There are just a few small baskets of roma tomatoes from the big garden that are not quite ripe yet left now so I can sit here, grateful for all the harvest that God provided, and do a blog post on the greenhouse.
